FLV Assistant is a video downloader for web video portals. It should support any website that shows video in FLV format. Some of the listed ones are: YouTube, Metacafe, Megavideo, Yahoo Video, Break, and more. The application has a built-in browser that allows you to go to any website. When a video is being played, the application will detect it and add it to a list. If a website has several videos, all of them will be listed and you can click on the "download" button next to them to start each download.
FLV Assistant also has a file converter. It supports the following formats: AVI, M4V, MP4, 3GP, WMV, MP3, and MPG. To convert a file you have to find it manually. First, you have to select the conversion format, since the conversion will start automatically once you select the file.
In my testing, the application worked well. It downloaded every video that I tried and it converted them into a few different formats with no problems. The user interface is simple and somewhat intuitive. If I had to change on thing it would be the way files for conversion are added. I would like the app to list all the files that I downloaded with a "Convert" button next to them.
